Fundraise for Hope

How will you challenge yourself?

It’s as easy as…

Step 1.

Get ideastorming! Is Tough Mudder open for new entries this year? Do you make a mean lemon sponge? Could you simply throw a party and collect donations  instead of gifts? We’re here to help, so if you need any assistance with your fundraising planning at all, just give us a shout.

Step 2.

Tell your friends! With the date set, it’s time to spread the word and raise as much money as possible to make all your efforts worthwhile. If you’re collecting sponsorship, a JustGiving page makes it really easy (see these Top Tips to make the most out of your JustGiving page).

Step 3.

Congratulations! With your event completed, it’s time to send in your money to Hope – or in the case of a sponsored challenge, start collecting your sponsorship and sponsor forms ready to send us. Thank you so much for supporting young people through a family health crisis.

FAQs

I'm stuck! What kind of things can I do to raise money?

Have a look at our Fundraising Wall of Fame and see what people have managed to achieve in the past. You can also check out JustGiving’s A-Z of Fundraising for some top ideas (in alphabetical order)! If you’re still stuck for ideas, we’d love to chat with you about it. Give us a call: 01989 566317 or send an email to lorna.russell@hopesupport.org.uk.

How will my fundraising help?

Hope is entirely self-funded, so the money that you raise really will make a difference to us. Take a look at what £12.50, £30, £50 and £72 could provide our young people, click here to see how your money can help.

Can I have some Hope flyers and posters so that people know what my event is for?

Yes! Either pop into the office, or get in touch and let us know how many you would like and how we can get them to you. Please return any extra leaflets you don’t use as we can reuse them and reduce our costs.

I want to do a collection for Hope at my event. Can I have some collection tins?

Yes! You’ll need to pop into the office to collect it, as unfortunately they are too big to send in the post. You can find our address here.

I'd like to run a raffle for Hope, is this as easy as it sounds?

A raffle can be a great money-raiser. However, there are some serious legal points to consider before you run a raffle, such as pricing regulations, prize requirements and licenses.

If you’d like to talk it through with us, we’d be more than happy to chat with you. Give Lorna a call at the Hope office: 01989 566317.

How can I spread the word about my event?

There are loads of ways to get the word out! You could think about the following…

  • Share your event and JustGiving page (if you have one) via your social media pages
  • Send an email around your work and friends, explaining what you are doing and why (don’t forget to include the link to your fundraising page if you have one).
  • For the more creative out there, why not make a video diary of your progress and share it via social media or email? People love to see behind-the-scenes footage and hear about the personal trials, challenges and inspiration behind your fundraising. From your first training sessions to your gold medal moment, you’ll build momentum and support along way.
  • Tell everyone at your local clubs, groups you’re involved in, coffee shops you’re a regular at etc.
  • Put some posters up around town and hand flyers out (we’ve got just the thing – email us for a blank template you can personalise for your event).
  • Feeling brave? Your local radio stations may be happy to interview you and publicise your event to all their listeners! Be sure to mention the reasons behind your fundraising event and what is motivating you get involved.
  • Send press releases and photos to your local papers – email us for a template.

We will happily publicise your event on Hope’s Facebook and Twitter pages and award you the eternal stardom you deserve on our Fundraising Wall of Fame! If you can, be sure to send us photos to help us promote your fundraising efforts really effectively.

Can my company or workplace support me?

If your fundraising event involves sponsorship, the easiest way is to set up an online fundraising page at JustGiving.com. Follow the link, then simply click “Fundraise for us” at the top of the page and follow the instructions to create a unique webpage you can share with your friends and collect sponsorship and Gift Aid online. All the money comes straight through to Hope, leaving you free to focus on your challenge!

You’ll probably also need to collect some money from supporters face-to-face, which is why we’ve made a Sponsor Form for you to download and print from the resources below.

How do I send my money in?

We’re glad you asked! Please make cheques payable to “Hope Support Services”, and print out the Gift Aid form in the resources list below to add an additional 25% to your funds at no extra cost to you, if you are a UK taxpayer. Please send your forms and the cheque of your total amount raised to our address here.

Please include a covering letter telling us all about who you are and your fundraising event, we love to hear about what you’ve been doing and can give you a shout out on our social media pages. Don’t forget to include a return address or email that we can send a thank you letter to – or let us know if you’d rather not receive one. Alternatively, you can email us and we will provide bank details for direct transfers.

We’d also LOVE to see a photo of your event/challenge in action, so we can promote your efforts on social media and display you proudly on our Fundraising Wall of Fame!

Will you cook me breakfast on the day of my event?

No.
